UTA Arad invites viral Manchester United fan to visit after he wears club jersey

UTA Arad attracted attention on social media after commenting on a post by Frank Ilett, a Manchester United supporter known online as The United Strand. Ilett appeared in the photo wearing a UTA Arad jersey, a detail that did not go unnoticed by the Romanian Superliga club.

The English fan has not cut his hair for 748 days as part of a self-imposed challenge. He promised to wait until his favorite team achieves five consecutive victories before visiting a barber. The challenge began in October 2024, but Manchester United's results have extended the wait to more than two years.

In the comments section, UTA Arad invited Ilett to visit the club. They made an unusual suggestion regarding his long hair, stating that player Jayson Papeau could offer some advice on how to style it. The post garnered significant engagement, accumulating over 535,000 views and 13,900 likes.

Romanian fans expressed surprise at seeing the Manchester United supporter in a UTA shirt, with some commenting on the mention of Romania. When asked directly why he wore the jersey, Ilett replied humorously that there are many things people do not know about him.

FC Argeș also joined the conversation ahead of their direct match against UTA Arad. The club addressed Ilett, stating they had nothing personal against him. They expressed hope to defeat UTA Arad in their upcoming game but confirmed they would support Manchester United in their match against Bournemouth.

The league match between FC Argeș and UTA Arad is scheduled for Saturday, 24 October at 18:00. The game will take place at the stadium in Mioveni as part of the 13th round of the Superliga.
