U Cluj intends to sign Romanian international goalkeeper Horațiu Moldovan, who is currently on loan at Eyupspor from Atletico Madrid. The club is reportedly looking to strengthen its squad with another national team player following recent recruitment efforts.
Moldovan has not made any appearances for Atletico Madrid since joining the Spanish club. He was previously loaned to Sassuolo, Real Oviedo, and Eyupspor during his time under contract with the La Liga side.
In the current season, Moldovan has played seven matches for Eyupspor. During these appearances, he conceded 17 goals. He started the first seven matches for the Turkish club before being dropped from the starting lineup.
The decision to drop Moldovan came after Eyupspor lost 0-2 to Erzurumspor. This result ended his initial run as the first-choice goalkeeper for the team this season.
U Cluj has conceded 20 goals in 12 league matches this season. The potential arrival of an experienced international goalkeeper could address defensive vulnerabilities observed in the early part of the campaign.
Moldovan has earned 16 caps for the Romanian national team since his debut in November 2022. His experience at the international level adds to his profile as a target for clubs in the SuperLiga.
Atletico Madrid signed Moldovan from Rapid in January 2024 for a fee of 800,000 euros. His contract with the Spanish club is set to expire in summer 2026, according to reports.
Transfermarkt lists Moldovan's market value at 1.5 million euros. This valuation reflects his status as a Romanian international with experience in multiple European leagues.
Moldovan previously played for CFR Cluj, Viitorul Tg. Jiu, Ripensia Timișoara, Sepsi, UTA, Rapid, Sassuolo, and Real Oviedo. His career path has included several loan spells away from his parent clubs.
U Cluj has also been linked with Nicolae Stanciu, who will leave Dalian Yingbo in December 2026 when his contract expires. Stanciu reportedly accepted an offer from U Cluj over FCSB to be closer to home.
U Cluj offered Nicolae Stanciu a monthly salary of 30,000 euros, which would be the highest in the squad. The club will also pay him a signing bonus of 100,000 euros as no transfer fee is required for his arrival.
