U Cluj president Radu Constantea has officially denied rumors that head coach Cristiano Bergodi intends to resign or leave the club. The denial follows a period of speculation regarding the manager's future in Cluj-Napoca.
The rumors gained traction after U Cluj drew 2-2 with FC Argeș. Following the match, Bergodi missed the scheduled press conference. He cited health issues as the reason for his absence from the media event.
Reports suggested that Mirel Rădoi, Adrian Mutu, and Edi Iordănescu were potential replacements for Bergodi. These names circulated as possible successors amid the uncertainty surrounding the current coach.
Bergodi addressed the situation by holding a three-hour discussion with club president Radu Constantea. The two parties spoke openly about the coach's future at U Cluj during this extended meeting.
Following the talks, Bergodi confirmed his desire to continue coaching U Cluj. He stated his intention to lead the team to the play-offs, reaffirming his commitment to the club's objectives.
Reaching the play-offs was reconfirmed as the minimum objective for U Cluj. This target was established during the discussions between Bergodi and the club president.
The club has struggled for points at home recently. U Cluj earned only one point in their last two home matches, which contributed to the pressure on the coaching staff.
U Cluj will look to move forward with their next fixture. The team is scheduled to play against Corvinul on Friday at 21:00. The match will take place in Petroșani.
