Steaua coach Daniel Oprița has confirmed that the club is engaged in advanced negotiations with a private investor seeking to associate with its football section. Oprița stated that these discussions are highly progressed, although recent changes in government leadership have introduced a new variable to the process. The new leadership at the Ministry of National Defence is required to meet with the financiers to establish a viable path for association. If this scenario materializes, Steaua would secure the right to promote to the first league in the following year.

Regarding the identity of the potential backers, former Steaua captain Tudorel Stoica previously revealed that the investors are from abroad and possess significant financial strength. Stoica emphasized that these parties are not from Romania. Oprița supported the notion of serious interest, noting that the firm is willing to inject substantial funds into the club. He referenced comments by Victor Pițurcă regarding the financial capability of the interested party. The final approval remains dependent on the ministry and the club finding a mutually acceptable agreement.

In the context of current competitions, Steaua is scheduled to face Dinamo in the second league. This fixture is regarded by some supporters and Dinamo coach Ionuț Chirilă as the true derby. Oprița chose to avoid explicitly labeling the match as a derby to prevent causing offense. However, he acknowledged that if the match is defined simply as Steaua versus Dinamo, then Chirilă’s characterization holds weight. The focus for Steaua remains on resolving the administrative and financial hurdles to regain top-flight status.
