The Romanian Football Federation decided to change the venue of the CS Afumați versus Steaua match for organizational reasons. The Liga 2 fixture was postponed to Sunday, 25 October 2026, with a kick-off time of 11:00. The game will now take place at Stadionul „1 Mai” in Slobozia.

The match was initially scheduled for Saturday, 24 October, at 11:00 on the ground in Buftea. Ilfov county officials decided to play against Steaua on Sunday due to a scheduling overlap. The Unirea Slobozia versus Concordia Chiajna match was already set for Saturday at 11:00.

The match cannot be played in Buftea due to Gendarmerie restrictions regarding away supporters. The stadium in Buftea has only one stand, which prevents compliance with safety regulations for this fixture.

Steaua recently faced a similar situation when their match against Poli Timișoara was played in Sibiu. This precedent highlights ongoing logistical challenges for the club in securing appropriate venues under current regulatory frameworks.

Before this rescheduled match, CS Afumați plays Popești-Leordeni and Steaua hosts Metaloglobus in round 10 of Liga 2. These fixtures are part of the standard league schedule leading up to the delayed encounter.

After 9 rounds, CS Afumați is in 6th place with 17 points. This position represents the last spot guaranteeing playoff presence in the current league structure.

Steaua, coached by Daniel Oprița, is in 17th place with 6 points after a difficult start to the season. The team sits near the bottom of the table as they prepare for the upcoming rounds.

Neither CS Afumați nor Steaua has the right to promotion to the Superliga. This restriction applies to both clubs regardless of their final standing in the Liga 2 table.
