FC Argeș suffered a 0-1 defeat against UTA Arad in the 13th round of the SuperLiga, marking their sixth loss in the last eight matches. The result leaves the team in 13th place in the standings with 12 points. Under the guidance of coach Bogdan Andone, the squad has secured only three victories this season, with their most recent win occurring on August 9 against Universitatea Craiova.

Following the match, Pitești mayor Cristian Gentea issued a strong criticism of the players, citing a lack of ambition, determination, and desire. He described the team as powerless and noted that such attitudes lead to continuous losses. Gentea emphasized that FC Argeș is a club with tradition and history, stating it should not be treated with mockery.

In a message posted on his personal TikTok account, the mayor highlighted his administrative efforts, including the construction of a new ultramodern stadium and the provision of a decent budget to ensure good playing conditions. He urged the players to feel shame if they did not respect these efforts, referencing former player Dani Coman, who returned to the club to help achieve performance.

Gentea affirmed that supporters have the right to voice their dissatisfaction and criticize the team given the recent results. He delivered a stark warning that Pitești will continue to have both a stadium and a football team, regardless of whether the current players remain part of the project. The mayor called on the squad to wake up before it is too late.
