Laurențiu Reghecampf can continue his role as head coach of FCSB after definitively closing his debt to Universitatea Craiova. The resolution ends a long-standing financial conflict that had threatened his position at the club.
Mihai Stoica confirmed that the outstanding amount was paid in full. He stated that this payment brings an end to all discussions regarding Reghecampf's right to coach in the Romanian league.
The dispute originated three years prior to October 2026. It began after Reghecampf left Universitatea Craiova to join Al-Tai in Saudi Arabia.
The financial disagreement emerged in autumn 2023. Reghecampf triggered a unilateral contract termination clause when he departed for the Saudi club.
The total value of the termination clause was 300,000 euros. This sum included 200,000 euros for the coach and 100,000 euros for his staff members.
Despite making partial payments in previous years, Reghecampf still owed 150,000 euros. This remaining balance prevented the case from being closed by the relevant commissions.
FCSB intervened to resolve the issue. The club paid the remaining debt on behalf of Reghecampf in September 2026. This action allowed him to continue exercising his coaching functions.
Prior to this settlement, Reghecampf required a dispensation from the Romanian Football Federation (FRF). Commissions had not yet resolved the case during a recent match where FCSB defeated Oțelul Galați 1-0.
With the legal and financial matters now settled, focus returns to the team's performance. Club owner Gigi Becali has indicated plans to sign three or four new players during the winter transfer window.
Becali stated that these additions aim to help the team finish first in the play-off stage. The ultimate goal is to win the championship title.
