FCSB owner Gigi Becali rejected a reported two million euro offer from Italian club Udinese for goalkeeper Ștefan Târnovanu. The rejection stemmed from significant differences in player valuation, as Becali reportedly requested nearly five million euros for the Romanian international. Consequently, Târnovanu remained at the Bucharest-based club despite the interest from Serie A.
Ioan Becali, the owner's cousin and agent, revealed that the negotiations were linked to Udinese's handling of goalkeeper Răzvan Sava. According to Ioan Becali, the Italian club intended to replace Sava with Târnovanu while offering the same fee they had previously paid for Sava. He characterized the two million euro proposal as insufficient given Târnovanu's form and status at the time.
Market assessments indicate a decline in Târnovanu's estimated value since the period of the alleged offer. Specialist sites valued the goalkeeper at five million euros in 2025, but recent evaluations place his worth at approximately 2.3 million euros. His current contract with FCSB is set to expire in 2028.
The context of the bid involves Udinese's previous investment in Răzvan Sava. Giovanni Becali confirmed that Udinese paid two million euros to acquire Sava from CFR Cluj. Regarding Sava's current status, Giovanni Becali stated that the goalkeeper is expected to leave his loan spell at Universitatea Craiova during the winter window and return to Italy.
