FCSB has had its transfer ban lifted after the club settled a financial debt owed to former player William Baeten. The resolution of the dispute allows the Romanian side to engage in future transfer activities without restriction from FIFA regarding this specific case.

Mihai Stoica, a key figure at the club, characterized the situation as a formal matter. He explained that the club had not received a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport before the transfer ban was imposed. This lack of communication contributed to the administrative delay.

The ban had technically restricted FCSB from making transfers on September 23. However, the transfer window was already closed at that time, meaning the immediate sporting impact was limited. The lifting of the ban ensures the club is clear for upcoming registration periods.

The dispute originated from unpaid financial dues to William Baeten. The Belgian midfielder played for FCSB from July 2024 to August 2025. During his tenure, he was part of the squad that competed in European competitions.

Baeten was owed a bonus of 50,000 euros. This payment was linked to the team qualifying for the main phase of the 2024/2025 Europa League. The failure to pay this amount led to the formal complaint.

The player filed a complaint with FIFA over the unpaid debt. The international governing body subsequently imposed sanctions until the matter was resolved. FCSB has now settled the outstanding amount, leading to the removal of the ban.

During his time at FCSB, Baeten made 18 appearances across all competitions. He scored one goal, which came in a Champions League match against Maccabi Tel-Aviv. His contribution helped the team in their European campaign.

William Baeten currently plays for Drita in Kosovo. Before joining his current club, he transferred to Flamurtari in Albania. He continues his professional career in the Balkans after his stint in Romania.

In the current season, Baeten has made 11 appearances for Drita. He has provided two assists in these matches. His performance records indicate he remains an active participant in league and cup competitions.
