Romanian coach Daniel Isăilă has confirmed that he is currently a free agent and available for new opportunities. The 54-year-old stated he is open to offers from clubs in Romania or abroad. He made these comments after settling his family in the United Arab Emirates.
Isăilă last served as the head coach of Baniyas. His departure marks the end of a long period working in the Gulf region, where he has been active since 2018. During this time, he has managed several clubs in the area.
His experience in the Gulf includes three separate spells with Baniyas. He also coached Al-Hazem and Khorfakkan during his time in the region. These roles have defined his recent career path away from European football.
Isăilă revealed that he turned down offers from teams in the relegation zone in the Gulf region. He indicated a preference for avoiding high-pressure situations involving clubs fighting to stay in their respective leagues.
Regarding a potential return to Romanian football, Isăilă stated that no offers have been received since he became a free agent. This suggests that while he is open to returning, no concrete proposals have emerged from his home country so far.
He explained that he had discussions with clubs in Romania while he was still under contract. However, he was unable to leave his previous position due to a large termination clause. This financial barrier prevented an earlier move back to Europe.
Isăilă also commented on Ianis Hagi, with whom he worked during his time with the Romania U21 national team. He recalled their collaboration and the player's development under his guidance at the youth level.
The coach expressed support for Ianis Hagi regarding a potential transfer to Marseille. He backed the midfielder amid speculation about a move to the French club, highlighting his belief in the player's abilities.
Isăilă defended Ianis Hagi against criticism linked to his father, Gică Hagi. He stated that the younger Hagi does not deserve negative commentary simply because of his family name. He emphasized the need to judge the player on his own merits.
He further noted that Edi Iordănescu recalled Ianis Hagi to the national team when the player performed decisively. This reference served to underline the player's value to the senior squad based on performance rather than lineage.
