CFR Cluj and Dinamo played out a 2-2 draw in the 13th round of the Superliga. The match ended in controversy as CFR Cluj head coach Marius Șumudică used the post-match press conference to accuse Dinamo fans of directing racist chants at him.
Șumudică stated that supporters had chanted 'Gypsy, gypsy!' towards him during the game. He emphasized that such behavior has no place in football stadiums and demanded that authorities take action against these manifestations.
On the pitch, CFR Cluj held a two-goal lead for much of the contest. Andrei Cordea opened the scoring in the 26th minute, followed by a second goal from Cristian Ignat in the 61st minute.
Dinamo mounted a late comeback to salvage a point. Cătălin Cîrjan reduced the deficit in the 78th minute, and Dean Zandbergen completed the turnaround with an equalizer three minutes later.
Beyond the immediate incident, Șumudică expressed frustration over a perceived lack of consequences for similar incidents. He referenced racist chants heard at the recent FCSB versus Rapid match, claiming that no measures were taken despite the whole stadium hearing them.
The coach warned that failing to stop matches when such abuse occurs could lead to escalating violence. He suggested that without intervention, situations could deteriorate to the point where individuals might react physically or jump fences.
