Dinamo head coach Nuno Campos has responded to public criticism from CFR Cluj manager Marius Șumudică following a 2-2 draw between the two sides. The dispute centers on comments Campos made after the match and allegations regarding a private conversation between the two coaches.
The tension began when Campos stated that his team dominated the match. He compared Dinamo's number of successful passes to those recorded by Barcelona to illustrate his point. Șumudică criticized this comparison, arguing that Dinamo did not create enough clear chances to justify such a claim.
Campos clarified that his reference to pass statistics was intended to describe his team's playing style rather than to provoke opponents. He maintained that the metric was used for tactical context and not as a boast about overall performance superiority.
Șumudică also claimed that Campos complained about team conditions during a private discussion after the game. ProSport reported that Șumudică alleged the Dinamo coach spoke about financial or operational issues. Campos denied making any such complaints about the club's situation.
Campos criticized Șumudică for revealing details of what he considered a private exchange. He stated that he is educated differently and believes that discussions held in private should remain confidential between the participants. He emphasized his respect for Șumudică while defending his stance on privacy.
The draw against CFR Cluj meant Dinamo lost its first league points in nearly two months. Prior to this result, the team had not dropped points in the league since a 1-1 away draw against Corvinul on 29 August.
Șumudică also stated that he received racist chants from Dinamo fans at the end of the match. This allegation adds another layer to the post-match controversy surrounding the fixture.
Dinamo now turns its attention to the Cupa României. The team plays Chindia Târgoviște on Wednesday, 28 October, at 19:00 in the second stage of Group D. Campos warned that the Liga a 2-a opponent could pose difficulties despite the difference in divisions.
Dinamo currently has 3 points and a +3 goal difference in Cupa României Group D. The top two teams in the group will qualify for the quarter-finals. A derby against Universitatea Craiova is scheduled for early December.
