Mihai Stoichiță, the head of the Technical Commission within the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), has responded to public criticism from former international Liță Dumitru. Dumitru had accused the federation's leadership of ignoring his extensive experience and excluding him from the technical body. Stoichiță characterized these accusations as stemming from frustration rather than genuine grievance, asserting that he had assisted Dumitru in the past without expecting any form of gratitude or recognition in return.
The FRF official clarified the procedural hurdles preventing immediate appointment to the commission. Stoichiță explained that membership requires a formal proposal followed by a vote from the Executive Committee, meaning individuals cannot simply be added on demand. He noted that while Dumitru had effectively nominated himself, the process necessitates consultation with federation presidents and committee members before any decision can be finalized.
Regarding future possibilities, Stoichiță suggested that Dumitru might be considered for the commission in the following year, contingent on his residency status. The official highlighted that Dumitru had previously commuted between Romania and the United States, which posed a logistical disadvantage. However, Stoichiță acknowledged that the former player had recently returned to Romania and was working at the Concordia Chiajna academy, stating that permanent residence in the country would be a key factor for any potential inclusion next season.
Stoichiță also defended the current composition of the Technical Commission against implicit criticisms regarding its membership criteria. He emphasized that the body is not composed solely of coaches but includes former players, youth specialists, and successful business figures such as Rodion Cămătaru. Stoichiță argued that including individuals with diverse professional successes provides valuable examples for current footballers, reinforcing the commission's broader role in developing the sport beyond just tactical instruction.
