Gică Hagi announced the preliminary squad for Romania on October 25, 2026. The list includes 27 players who are licensed abroad. This selection covers the final two matches in Group B4 of the UEFA Nations League.

The national team faces Poland on November 14 in Bucharest. The match will take place at Arena Națională at 21:45. Three days later, Romania travels to Zenica to play Bosnia-Herțegovina at the same time.

Louis Munteanu is absent from the preliminary list. He sustained an injury during the previous national team action. Andrei Borza is included in the squad despite leaving the field injured in the 25th minute of a 2-1 match against Rizespor.

Deian Sorescu is excluded from the squad. He was a constant presence under previous coaches Mirel Rădoi, Edi Iordănescu, and Mircea Lucescu. Alexandru Ioniță, Valentin Costache, and Alexandru Cîmpanu are also not in Gică Hagi's plans despite recent success in Asia.

Ianis Stoica and Marius Corbu were selected by Gică Hagi. Their inclusion comes after controversies over their non-call-ups in September and October. The FRF stated that the final squad will combine some foreign-based players with domestic league players and will be announced later.

Romania has recorded four defeats in four matches. The goal difference stands at 3-13. The team sits last in the group and risks relegation to League C. Previous results include a 6-0 loss to Poland and a 2-4 defeat by Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The gap between Romania and third-placed Poland in the group is 4 points. To avoid relegation, Romania must win both remaining matches. Poland must obtain at most one point in their other game for this scenario to hold.

Nicolae Stanciu plays for Dalian Yingbo in China. He has 90 caps and 15 goals for Romania. Andrei Burcă plays for Yunnan Yukun in China and has 47 caps with 1 goal. Răzvan Marin plays for AEK Atena in Greece and has 78 caps with 12 goals.

Ionuț Radu plays for Celta Vigo in Spain. He has 11 caps and 0 goals for the national team. The FRF has put tickets for sale for the Romania vs Poland match in Bucharest.
