Getafe president Angel Torres has confirmed that the Spanish club is interested in signing veteran defender Sergio Ramos. Torres revealed that he is in direct contact with Rene Ramos, the player's brother and agent, to discuss the conditions of a potential agreement. The 40-year-old central defender has been a free agent since the start of the year following his departure from Mexican side Monterrey at the end of 2025.
Despite the confirmed interest, Torres clarified that acquiring Ramos is not currently a priority for the club. He explained that head coach Jose Bordalas has numerous solutions for the center of defense and had primarily requested reinforcements on the wings. Torres noted that while the door remains open for Ramos, the club already has six central defenders and the position is well covered.
The announcement comes as Getafe continues its activity in the transfer market following the signing of former Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal. Carvajal was ineligible for Getafe's recent Conference League match against Universitatea Craiova because he was not registered in time for the UEFA list. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Getafe currently sitting 15th in La Liga.
Torres suggested that any potential deal for Ramos might be finalized in January rather than immediately. This follows earlier rumors in the Spanish press linking Getafe with other high-profile players such as Dani Parejo and Jadon Sancho, though these reports remain unconfirmed.
