Spanish club Getafe is reportedly leading the effort to sign Universitatea Craiova striker Assad Al-Hamlawi. Journalist Mohammad Al-Akhras stated that offers have arrived for the player, with Getafe at the top of the list. Palestinian press reports also suggest Getafe is interested in securing the forward from the Romanian club.
The potential transfer follows a direct encounter between the two sides. Al-Hamlawi scored in a 1-1 Conference League draw against Getafe. This performance occurred during the current European campaign and has drawn attention to his form.
Universitatea Craiova reportedly demands 5 million euro for Al-Hamlawi. This figure matches the sum requested during failed negotiations with Al-Ahly in the summer of 2026. Reports suggest the striker is close to moving to Getafe for this amount, though these details remain unconfirmed.
Al-Hamlawi joined Universitatea Craiova in the summer of 2025 from Slask Wroclaw. The transfer fee was approximately 1 million euro. The club refused to sell him during the summer transfer window of 2026 despite interest.
The striker has recorded 26 goals and provided five assists in 66 matches for Universitatea Craiova across all competitions. His current market value is estimated at 2 million euro, which is double his valuation upon arrival.
At the start of the 2026-2027 season, Al-Hamlawi scored 10 goals in 18 appearances for Universitatea Craiova. Journalist Mohammad Al-Akhras noted that the player is likely to transfer to a larger team during the winter market due to the received offers.
