Getafe defender Zaid Romero injured ahead of Conference League match against U Craiova

U Craiova faces Getafe in the group stage of the Conference League with a potential boost after reports indicated that Argentine defender Zaid Romero may miss the match. The player suffered an injury during a recent domestic league game and is considered unlikely to be available for the European fixture.

Romero sustained a sprain to his left quadriceps in the 37th minute of Getafe's 0-3 loss to Barcelona in La Liga. This injury occurred during a difficult outing for the Spanish side, which saw them defeated convincingly by the Catalan club.

The defender is valued at 5 million euros according to market assessments. His absence would remove a key component from the Getafe defense as they prepare to travel to Romania for their opening group stage match.

Romero joined Getafe on a permanent basis in the summer of 2026. The transfer from Brugge cost 5 million euros and followed a loan spell at the Spanish club from January to June of the same year.

This season, Romero has featured in seven La Liga matches and two Conference League qualifiers. He has accumulated nearly 750 minutes of playing time across these competitions prior to his injury.

Getafe enters the tie with other notable absences in their attacking line. Juanmi and Christantus Uche are both long-term absentees for the Spanish side. Their market values are listed at 922,000 euros and 11.2 million euros respectively.

U Craiova dropped into the Conference League main phase after exiting the Champions League. The Romanian champions will begin their group stage campaign at home against Getafe before finishing their home fixtures against FC Copenhaga.
