Gaziantep head coach Orhan Ak received a red card during the team's 1-2 loss to Basaksehir in the eighth round of the Super Lig on 18 October 2026. The incident occurred after Ak attempted to initiate a physical conflict with members of the opposing staff.

The defeat extended a difficult run for Gaziantep, marking their third consecutive loss in the league. Prior to this match, the team lost 0-2 to Kocaelispor and 0-3 to Corum.

Romanian internationals Deian Sorescu and Alexandru Maxim featured for Gaziantep in the match. Sorescu played the full ninety minutes, while Maxim, who serves as the team captain, entered the game in the second half.

Sorescu received a yellow card in the 80th minute and recorded an 89 percent pass accuracy during his time on the pitch. Performance ratings from SofaScore gave Sorescu a 7.5 and Maxim a 6.9 for their contributions in the defeat.

Ak had previously replaced Mirel Rădoi as the head coach of Gaziantep. His tenure began with positive results, including a 4-2 victory over Goztepe and a 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce, before the recent string of defeats.

Following the latest loss, reports indicate that fans have taken to social media to call for Ak's resignation. The club remains in 14th place in the Super Lig table with eight points, sitting three points behind Konyaspor, who occupy the relegation zone.
