Andrei Rațiu has not been included in the Rayo Vallecano squad for the last four La Liga matches due to an injury sustained during international duty with Romania. The defender suffered a muscular problem three weeks prior to late October 2026 and has been training individually rather than with the full group.

Spanish sources indicate there are minimal chances Rațiu will be available for the league match against Celta Vigo on Saturday, 31 October. His presence in the squad for that game remains uncertain as he continues his rehabilitation process away from the main team activities.

If Rațiu does not recover in time for the domestic fixture, he is expected to be fit for the UEFA Europa League group match against Union Saint Gilloise. Rayo Vallecano is scheduled to play the Belgian side on Thursday, 5 November, which provides a potential target date for his return to competitive action.

Rațiu has made six appearances for Rayo this season, scoring one goal. His current market value is listed at 24 million euros, though one report cites a release clause of 25 million euros that no club has reportedly paid.

Despite his club injury, national team coach Gică Hagi included Rațiu in the preliminary list for upcoming Nations League matches. Romania is set to face Poland on 14 November and Bosnia-Herzegovina on 17 November. The preliminary squad also includes Ionuț Radu, Otto Hindrich, Valentin Cojocaru, Andrei Coubiș, Tony Strata, Radu Drăgușin, Virgil Ghiță, Bogdan Racovițan, Matei Ilie, Andrei Burcă, Lisav Eissat, Andrei Borza, Răzvan Marin, Marius Marin, Nicolae Stanciu, Marius Corbu, Vlad Dragomir, Ianis Hagi, Dennis Man, Darius Olaru, Florinel Coman, Daniel Bîrligea, Florin Tănase, Valentin Mihăilă, Ianis Stoica, and Rareș Ilie.

The inclusion comes as Romania looks to improve its standing after losing all four matches played in UEFA Nations League B under Hagi. Rațiu has earned 41 caps for the national team and scored two goals during his international career.
