Free agent Daniel Popa has identified Universitatea Craiova as the favorite to win the Superliga title. The 31-year-old forward cited the team's experience and strong squad as key differentiators in the championship race. He provided this assessment in an interview with Gazeta Sporturilor while discussing the current state of the league.

Popa predicted a competitive title battle involving several major clubs. He stated that Dinamo Bucharest would contend for the trophy alongside FCSB and Rapid. He noted that FCSB remains a serious competitor, particularly following the return of coach Laurențiu Reghecampf, and suggested that winter reinforcements could further strengthen their position.

Regarding his own career, Popa confirmed that he has fully recovered from an injury that previously hindered a potential summer transfer. He stated that he is medically fit and currently training individually in Târgoviște. Although he has held discussions with clubs in Romania and abroad, he has not yet signed a contract. He indicated that a new deal is most likely to be finalized in or after the winter transfer window.

When asked to choose between his former clubs Dinamo and FCSB, Popa declined to name a favorite. He explained that he appreciates both teams for different contributions to his career. He credited Dinamo with helping him grow as a person and a footballer, while noting that his tenure at FCSB was marked by winning trophies.

Popa also shared his views on other players in the league. He praised Botoșani striker Andrei Dumiter for his remarkable start to the season. Additionally, he highlighted the quality of Universitatea Craiova forwards Al-Hamlawi and Elisor, describing them as excellent attackers.
