CFR Cluj vice-president Ciprian Deac stated that a decision regarding the future of Andrei Cordea will be made during the winter transfer window. Deac explained that the club is under significant financial pressure and requires funds to ensure its survival, making the sale of key assets necessary.

Club owner Nelu Varga reportedly acknowledges that losing Cordea would represent a major sporting loss, yet he is compelled to authorize the sale to resolve urgent financial issues facing the team. Deac noted that while Cordea is an essential player who drives the team's performance, the club's economic reality leaves them with limited options.

Head coach Marius Șumudică has resigned himself to the likelihood of Cordea's departure but emphasized that the club will not accept a negligible offer. Șumudică expressed his personal desire for the player to remain but affirmed that if a convenient offer arises for both the player and the club, no one will oppose the move.

The coach suggested that continuing his career abroad would be the best path for Cordea, citing his ability to perform at an international level. Cordea previously played for FCSB between July 2021 and August 2023, before moving to Al Tai for a reported fee of 1,300,000 euros. A potential move to Universitatea Craiova was also close to completion in the summer before collapsing.
