Superliga matches could potentially be broadcast on Kanal D following a major acquisition in the Romanian media sector. Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal (LPF) official Justin Ștefan stated that the league has given its agreement for the matches to be shown on the channel, though final confirmation depends on contractual reviews.

The potential broadcast shift follows an announcement by Dogan Holding regarding the sale of Dogan Media International SA, the owner of Kanal D Romania. On October 26, Dogan Holding revealed it had signed an agreement to sell the company to Romanian Content Project SRL and Clever Media Network.

The contract for the acquisition is valued at 109 million euros, with payments scheduled to be made in installments. The deal targets the portfolio of Doğan Media International, which includes Kanal D, Kanal D2, Radio Impuls, and the company's digital division.

Justin Ștefan clarified that while the LPF's existing contract with eAD, the current holder of Superliga broadcasting rights, does not prohibit broadcasting on Kanal D, other agreements may pose obstacles. He noted that it is necessary to examine contracts with other rights holders, as they might contain specific interdictions.

Ștefan expressed support for the possibility, stating that allowing matches to be seen on a national channel with high audience reach could benefit both the Superliga and supporters. He emphasized that rights should be sold under non-discriminatory conditions to avoid negatively affecting the final consumer.

The completion of the transaction is conditional on obtaining necessary approvals from competent authorities, including the Competition Council and the National Audiovisual Council. Dogan Media estimated that this regulatory process would take several months to complete.

Until the transaction is finalized, Doğan Media International will continue to operate within its current structure. The company stated that its operations, teams, and brands will carry out their activities as usual without interruptions during this period.
