Sepsi OSK owner Laszlo Dioszegi has confirmed that defender Joonas Tamm is no longer part of the club's immediate future. Dioszegi stated that head coach Ovidiu Burcă does not intend to use the Estonian international in upcoming matches. This announcement clarifies the player's status after a period of absence from the matchday squad.

Tamm has not featured for Sepsi under Burcă during the current season. The lack of playing time at the club level contrasts with his recent involvement on the international stage. Tamm played 12 minutes for Estonia in a 1-1 draw against Iceland in the Nations League. This appearance demonstrates that he remains active and available for selection despite his club situation.

The defender's contract with Sepsi is scheduled to expire at the end of the current season. Reports indicate that his departure from the club is likely given the current stance of the coaching staff. Non-renewal at contract expiry is distinct from an immediate dismissal, allowing the player to remain with the squad until the agreement concludes. This timeline provides clarity on his immediate future without forcing an early exit.

Tamm joined Sepsi in the summer of 2025. He arrived from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv after previously leaving Romanian club FCSB. His move to Sepsi followed his tenure in the capital, where he had established himself as a regular performer before his initial departure.

During the previous Liga 2 season, Tamm made 12 appearances for Sepsi. This contribution came as the club competed in the second tier of Romanian football. His experience in the league provided depth to the defensive line during that campaign, although his role has diminished in the current top-flight season.

Before his time at Sepsi, Tamm spent a significant period with FCSB. During the 2022-2023 season, he played 44 matches and scored four goals for the Bucharest-based club. This high volume of appearances highlighted his importance to the team during that specific campaign.

FCSB official Mihai Stoica previously praised Tamm's physical attributes. Stoica described him as the fastest central defender the club had possessed since the era of Planic. This assessment underscores the athletic profile that initially attracted interest from top Romanian clubs, even as his tactical fit at Sepsi has now been questioned by the current coaching staff.
