UEFA announced on Tuesday that Hungarian referee Balázs Berke will officiate a match at the home of the Polish champion with an all-Hungarian team. The appointment covers the upcoming Europa League fixture involving Lech Poznań, who are identified as the Polish champions hosting the game.
Berke will be supported by assistants Balázs Buzás and Balázs Szert, with Gergő Bogár serving as the fourth official. Video assistant referee duties will be handled by Tamás Bognár, who will be assisted by Katalin Kulcsár during the match.
Lech Poznań is scheduled to face Ferencváros in Poland on December 10 as part of the competition. Meanwhile, Sunderland enters their Europa League main stage encounter with a perfect record, highlighting the competitive context of the current campaign.
The 42-year-old Berke has prior experience in the competition this season, having officiated the match between Omonia Nicosia and Celta Vigo where the home side won 1-0. His disciplinary record for the season includes 48 yellow cards and one red card issued across ten matches.
