Ferencvárosi Torna Club will hold its general assembly for leadership renewal on October 27. The event marks a key moment for the club as members prepare to vote on the next phase of its governance structure.
Eleven individuals collected the necessary signatures for presidency candidacy by the Monday evening deadline. Candidates were required to gather at least 50 club member recommendations to appear on the ballot.
Five of the eleven presidency candidates are current board members. This group includes incumbent Gábor Kubatov, Gyula Rákosi, Beatrix Kökény, András Sike, and Miklós Springer.
Gábor Kubatov has been the club president since 2011 and can run for another term without legal obstacles. His long tenure has defined the recent era of the club’s administration.
Index reported that Gábor Kubatov's position as club president is currently stable despite potential incompatibility regulations. This assessment comes amid broader discussions about governance rules in Hungarian sports.
The promised incompatibility bill had not reached parliament by eight days before the vote. As a result, the legislation could enter force in November at the earliest, leaving the current election unaffected by these specific regulatory changes.
Fradi athletes and legends supported Kubatov staying in his role. Notable figures including Dénes Dibusz, Dániel Böde, Tibor Nyilasi, and Zoltán Gera expressed their backing for the incumbent president.
Club statutes require electing a nine-member presidency with at least 50%+1 member votes before selecting the president. This initial step ensures that the governing body has broad support from the membership base.
The elected nine presidency members choose the club president requiring a qualified three-quarters majority. This high threshold means that the final decision rests on a strong consensus within the newly formed leadership group.
