Hungarian football calendar: how the season fits together

NB I in 2026–27: the league programme, season stages and how to read fixture dates alongside cup and European commitments.

Season 2026–27 · Reviewed

The league programme

MLSZ schedules NB I to start on the weekend of 25 July 2026. Eighteen rounds are allocated to the autumn programme, ending on the weekend of 19 December. League play resumes on the weekend of 30 January 2027, and round 33 is assigned to 22 May.

How the season is divided

The twelve clubs meet three times. There is no championship-group split after a double round-robin. The third meeting with an opponent is part of the ordinary league schedule, and home and away assignments cannot be evenly divided for every pairing in a three-match season.

What to check before following a fixture

The new promotion/relegation play-off is scheduled for 29 May 2027: the eleventh-placed NB I club faces the second-tier runner-up. The last league round and the end of that club’s competitive season are therefore different dates. Twelfth place is direct relegation under the announced rules.
