FCSB owner Gigi Becali revealed that head coach Laurențiu Reghecampf promised an improvement in team performance beginning with the derby against Rapid. This statement comes as the club prepares for a crucial SuperLiga fixture scheduled for 24 October 2026 at 21:00 on Arena Națională.

Reghecampf recently returned for his third tenure as FCSB head coach. Since his arrival, the team has recorded two victories. These wins came against Oțelul and FC Voluntari, although reports differ on the exact scoreline of the Voluntari match.

One source reported a 1-0 win against Oțelul and a 2-1 victory over FC Voluntari. Another outlet stated that FCSB defeated Voluntari 2-0 in a previous match. Regardless of the specific scores, these results helped FCSB rise to sixth place in the standings.

Cristi Borcea commented on the situation ahead of the derby. He stated that FCSB has all the premises to achieve performance under Reghecampf. Borcea described the coach as one of the best Romanian managers in the last 15 years.

Borcea noted that FCSB started accumulating points since Reghecampf's return. He observed that Gigi Becali secured maximum points from two matches, despite reportedly being disappointed with other aspects of the team's situation.

The former Dinamo official expressed a wish for FCSB to finish second in the season, behind Dinamo. This comment highlights the competitive expectations surrounding the capital clubs as the season progresses.

Gigi Becali also praised player Risto Radunovic for his role in midfield. He highlighted Radunovic's ability to replace Darius Olaru and Florin Tănase in that area of the pitch.

FCSB and Rapid reached an agreement for the match venue. The return leg will also be played at Arena Națională. The deal includes an allocation of 8,000 tickets for away fans.

Supporters have placed pressure on the squad. FCSB fans asked the players to win the derby against Rapid. This request followed a 1-2 loss to Voluntari, which occurred prior to Reghecampf's recent successes.

Not all observers favor FCSB heading into the fixture. Gică Craioveanu stated that Rapid arrives at the match in better form than FCSB. Ionel Dănciulescu described Rapid as more homogeneous and consistent compared to their opponents.
