Elisor goal gives Universitatea Craiova narrow win over Csikszereda

Universitatea Craiova secured a 1-0 victory against Csikszereda in Miercurea Ciuc during matchday 11 of the Superliga. The away side claimed all three points with a single goal in the second half.

The first half ended in a stalemate with neither team finding the net. The scoreline remained 0-0 at the break as both sides struggled to create clear chances.

Elisor broke the deadlock in the 76th minute. His shot took a deflection off Papp before finding the back of the net, marking the opening goal for Universitatea Craiova.

Other reports stated that Elisor scored in the 77th minute after Pap blocked an initial effort from Cicâldău. The slight discrepancy in timing and sequence did not change the final outcome of the match.

Csikszereda had a chance to equalize from the penalty spot earlier in the half. Referee Andrei Moroiță declined to award a penalty in the 65th minute following a challenge by Hegedus on Elisor.

The defeat leaves Csikszereda at the bottom of the league table. The team has accumulated only one point from ten matches since its promotion to the top flight and is still seeking its first victory of the season.

Valentin Suciu was in charge of Csikszereda for this fixture. This match marked his debut as head coach, having replaced Istvan Szabo prior to the game.

Universitatea Craiova remains in third place in the standings with 20 points. A win would have allowed them to potentially tie league leader Dinamo, keeping them close in the title race.

Filipe Coelho serves as the head coach of Universitatea Craiova. He noted that focusing too much on the upcoming Conference League match against Getafe would be a mistake, emphasizing the importance of domestic fixtures.
