Universitatea Craiova defeated Sepsi 5-0 in an away match on 26 October 2026. The result came in the final fixture of the 13th round of the SuperLiga. Sepsi failed to register any shots on goal during the contest.

Romanchuk opened the scoring in the second minute after Alexandru Cicâldău delivered a corner kick. Assad Al Hamlawi added a penalty in the 30th minute following a foul by Rose on Băluță. Al Hamlawi scored his second goal in the 49th minute.

Simon Elisor replaced Al Hamlawi in the 71st minute. Elisor scored in the 72nd minute and added another in the 80th minute from a pass by Rădulescu. His second strike confirmed the 5-0 final scoreline. Karamoko was sent off in the 78th minute for a foul as the last defender on Matei.

Assad Al Hamlawi, Alexandru Cicâldău and Vladimir Screciu spoke to the media after the match. Al Hamlawi stated that the team is on a good path with improving connections between players. He expressed happiness for Elisor and described their internal competition for goals as positive motivation for both strikers.

Al Hamlawi has scored six goals for Universitatea Craiova in the SuperLiga this season. Simon Elisor is currently the league top scorer with nine goals. Al Hamlawi noted that Elisor’s status as the leading marksman does not diminish their shared drive to contribute to the team’s success.

Alexandru Cicâldău confirmed that winning the championship title remains a primary objective for the club this season. He also highlighted the team’s defensive record, stating that Universitatea Craiova has gone six consecutive matches without conceding a goal. Cicâldău affirmed the squad aims to compete for honors in the Cup and the Conference League as well.

Vladimir Screciu addressed the team’s previous heavy defeat, noting that the 5-1 loss to Dinamo in the second round still impacts the squad’s goal difference. He stated that the memory of conceding five goals in that match remains painful. Looking forward, Screciu said the team intends to defend their Cup trophy and prepare for their next championship match against Botoșani.

The victory extended a recent run of positive results for Universitatea Craiova. The team had previously defeated Csikszereda 1-0 on 11 October 2026 and drew 1-1 with Getafe on 15 October 2026. They followed that with a 2-0 win against Farul on 18 October 2026 and a 3-1 victory over Inter Escaldes on 22 October 2026.

Universitatea Craiova is scheduled to face FC Voluntari in the second round of the Cup. The match is set for 28 October 2026 at 19:00. Al Hamlawi referenced this upcoming fixture as the immediate focus for the squad following the league win.
