Midfielder Dragoș Albu signed with Corvinul Hunedoara on 2026-10-09. The 25-year-old joined the club as a free agent after leaving FC Hermannstadt.

The signing reversed a recent development involving an Italian club. Ten days prior to joining Corvinul, Albu was officially presented at Taranto.

Despite the presentation in Italy, Albu denied signing a contract with Taranto. He instead finalized his move to the Romanian side.

Corvinul Hunedoara announced the transfer two hours before their match against FC Voluntari. Albu made his debut in the 89th minute of that game, replacing Florin Iacob in a 3-2 result.

Albu became a free agent after Hermannstadt relegated to the second division at the end of the previous season. He had played 39 matches and scored 3 goals for the club during the 2025/26 campaign.

The midfielder plays as a central or defensive player and holds top-flight experience. His career includes over 100 appearances for FCU Craiova, where he helped secure promotion to the SuperLiga in 2020.

Albu also played for Gloria Buzău during his time in Romania. His professional development began in Romania and at the FC Utrecht academy, where he debuted for Jong Utrecht in the Eerste Divisie.

On the international stage, Albu represented Romania at U16, U17, U18, and U21 levels. He earned 11 caps and scored one goal for the U21 team.

He was part of the Romania U21 squad for the 2023 European Championship, which was hosted by Romania and Georgia.
