Adrian Ropotan, the head coach of Dinamo's second team, has expressed a strong desire to manage in England. Speaking on the iAM Ștucan podcast, Ropotan described England as the place that characterizes him, citing attributes such as running, strength and fighting. He stated that the league would have suited him during his playing career and that he would have liked to play there.
Despite his enthusiasm, Ropotan acknowledged the significant barriers to entering the English coaching market. He described the prospect of working there as very difficult and nearly impossible. His interest in English football stems from his time as a player, specifically when he faced Tottenham in the group stage of the 2006-2007 UEFA Cup. Dinamo lost that match 1-3, but Ropotan noted that the experience allowed him to see what happened in the English game.
Ropotan's current role follows his appointment as head coach of Dinamo's second team in May. Prior to this position, he coached the club's U19 squad. His coaching career began in the lower leagues at Dunărea Călărăși after his playing days at Dinamo. He also spent time coordinating the Udinese Academy in Bucharest alongside former colleague Marius Alexe.
The coach recently recovered from a serious incident involving the Dinamo 2 squad. In late July, the team was involved in a severe road accident. Ropotan suffered an open hand fracture in the crash and required surgical intervention. The accident resulted in the death of Constantin Covaciu, a long-serving member of the club's medical staff. The minibus driver also died approximately two months after the impact.
