Demolition works have begun at Stadionul Tineretului in Brașov. The process started with the removal of night lighting poles from the site. This marks the initial phase of a major infrastructure project in the city.
The project involves the construction of a new modern stadium. The investment value is estimated at approximately 30 million euros. This funding will support the complete redevelopment of the facility.
According to reports from Monitorul Expres, the new stadium will have a capacity of 9,716 seats. This figure defines the scale of the new arena intended for local football use.
The Romanian Government will provide most of the funding for the project. This financial support comes via the Ministry of Development and the National Investment Company, known as CNI. Their contribution forms the bulk of the budget.
Brașov City Hall will also contribute part of the necessary sum for the stadium project. This local contribution supplements the national funding provided by government bodies.
The financing contract for the project was signed in early September 2026. This agreement formalized the financial arrangements between the involved parties before demolition began.
Mayor George Scripcaru stated that construction follows four months of design work. This design phase occurred after the decision to demolish the existing stands at the site.
The demolition and construction of the new stadium are expected to last approximately three years. This timeline covers the entire period from the start of demolition to the completion of the new arena.
The new arena will be built at Stadionului Street no. 14 in Brașov. This location remains the home of the facility throughout the redevelopment process.
Brașov is described as a city with tradition in Romanian football. The new stadium aims to support this historical connection to the sport through modern infrastructure.
