Alessandro Altobelli has publicly urged Inter Milan officials and head coach Cristi Chivu to prioritize extending the contract of forward Marcus Thuram. The former striker emphasized the importance of retaining the French international, stating that the club must not allow him to leave.

Altobelli expressed confidence that the club's leadership is already active in securing a new deal. He noted that Giuseppe Marotta was reportedly working on an extension, highlighting Thuram's value to the team and his strong relationship with the supporters.

Thuram's current agreement with Inter is set to expire on June 30, 2028. The club has reportedly proposed a two-year extension to this existing deal, which would bind the player to the Italian champions until the summer of 2030.

Discussions between the parties have already begun. Reports suggest that Marotta invited Thuram to talks during the week of Inter's Champions League fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk. However, no final agreement has been reached at this stage.

The extension offer presents an opportunity for Thuram to improve his financial terms. He currently earns a monthly salary of 640,000 euros under his present contract. Further rounds of negotiations between the attacker and the club's management are expected to follow.
