FK Ústí nad Labem suffered a significant setback in their promotion chase as they lost 3-1 at home to league leaders MFK Karviná on Friday. The result highlighted the growing disparity between the two sides in the second tier competition.

Karviná established control early through Adam Kronus, who scored twice to give the visitors a two-goal advantage. Although Ústí managed to reduce the deficit after the break, Karviná added a third goal to secure the three points without further trouble.

Following the match, Ústí coach Ouhlehla was candid about his team's prospects. He noted that the point gap to the promotion places now stands at eight points, a deficit he described as substantial.

Ouhlehla explicitly stated that Karviná is clearly superior in terms of overall quality, comparing both the starting lineups and the benches. He suggested that this assessment should serve as a moment for reflection for his club.

When asked if promotion ambitions were a thing of the past, the coach indicated that the distance to such goals remains large. He expressed frustration over the team's inability to decipher why their home form has deteriorated, calling it a major complication.

Despite the dissatisfaction with the result and the performance, particularly in the first half, Ouhlehla credited the opponent's high quality. The defeat serves as a stark reminder of the challenges facing Ústí in the current campaign.
