Bulgarian national team player Stefan Velkov has provided a tactical analysis of FC Nordsjælland ahead of CSKA Sofia's upcoming UEFA Conference League fixture. Velkov described the Danish side as a mini-Barcelona due to their playing style. He offered insights based on his experience playing in Denmark against the Farum-based club.
Velkov currently plays for Sønderjyske, having transferred from Vejle in September. He moved to Denmark four years prior to October 2026. His familiarity with the league allows him to assess the strengths and weaknesses of Nordsjælland before CSKA Sofia travels to face them.
The analyst noted that Nordsjælland plays on a fast artificial pitch. He stated that the team is not physically dominant. According to Velkov, they suffer when opponents impose a physical style of play. This observation suggests a potential strategy for CSKA Sofia to disrupt the home side's rhythm.
Velkov identified several key threats for the CSKA defense. He highlighted Ghanaian forward Prince Amoako Junior as a significant danger. He also pointed to striker Alexander Lind, noting his mobility, goal sense, and experience in Italian football. Midfielder Niklas Røjkær was named as the player who sets the tempo and style for Nordsjælland.
Nordsjælland operates an academy in Ghana for players aged 16 to 18 through a partnership with Right to Dream. This connection helps explain the presence of talents like Amoako Junior in their squad. The club's development model focuses on integrating young players into their first team setup.
Velkov claimed that Nordsjælland has few fans at their home ground. He suggested this results in less noise during matches. The quieter environment allows for better communication among the players on the pitch. This factor could influence how CSKA Sofia approaches their defensive organization.
The Conference League match between Nordsjælland and CSKA Sofia is scheduled for 22 October. Kick-off is set for 19:45 Bulgarian time. The game will take place at Right to Dream Park in Farum. Velkov stated that CSKA Sofia could win if they approach the match adequately.
However, Velkov considers Nordsjælland the absolute favorite if CSKA does not start well. His assessment highlights the importance of a strong beginning for the Bulgarian visitors. The match represents a significant test for CSKA Sofia in European competition this season.
