Vlado Šajn, the honorary president of the Slovenian Referees Association and head of VAR training, has traveled to Lisbon to provide expert analysis on refereeing decisions. The Slovenian official arrived in the Portuguese capital to assess the performance of the match officials during the upcoming European fixture.
Šajn is scheduled to evaluate the refereeing team from Scotland during the match between Sporting CP and LASK Linz. The assessment is set to take place at 21:00 local time at the José Alvalade stadium. This engagement marks another significant assignment for Šajn, who previously served as a refereeing controller at the 2020 UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
The match features Nick Walsh from Glasgow as the main referee. Walsh, who is 35 years old, has been on the FIFA international list since 2018. He will oversee the contest which constitutes the third round of the league phase in the 35th season of the UEFA Champions League.
