The Slovenia national futsal team has completed its preparations for the start of the 2028 World Cup qualifiers. The squad, led by coach Tomislav Horvat, is set to face Belgium in its opening match of the campaign. The fixture is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, 2026, with a kickoff time of 20:00.

Slovenia has been drawn into Group 11 of the main European qualifying stage, where it will compete against Belgium and Norway. The teams will play each other home and away, meaning Slovenia will contest a total of four matches in this phase. The main qualifying round features 36 national teams distributed across 12 groups.

Belgium entered the group stage with a victory, defeating Norway 4-3 in their first encounter. Coach Horvat acknowledged the strength of the Belgian side but noted changes in their roster. He confirmed that key player Grello has ended his international career. Additionally, Horvat stated that another significant player, Rahou, is injured and is unlikely to feature in the match against Slovenia.

Team captain Igor Osredkar described the group as extremely difficult and balanced, noting that while Slovenia might be slight favorites, anything is possible in such a competitive setting. Osredkar highlighted that the majority of the Slovenian squad plays professionally abroad, with many featuring in leagues in Croatia, Bosnia, and Austria. He expressed confidence in the players' form and technical decision-making.
