Neagoe and Trică urge Universitatea Craiova to target victory against Getafe

Universitatea Craiova is scheduled to face Getafe on Thursday, 15 October 2026, at 19:45. The match is part of the group stage of the UEFA Conference League.

Eugen Neagoe and Eugen Trică have urged the Craiova players to approach the game with the intention of winning. Both men are former players and coaches for the club and currently work as analysts for Fanatik.

Trică stated that the players should aim for victory, noting that Getafe is not Barcelona. This comment serves to reduce the perceived stature of the Spanish opposition ahead of the fixture.

Neagoe supported this view by pointing to Getafe's recent domestic form. He noted that Getafe used reserves aged 18 to 19 in a La Liga round 8 match where they lost 3-0 to Barcelona.

Getafe is currently ranked 14th in La Liga. Neagoe expressed conviction that Universitatea Craiova will not lose the upcoming match against the Spanish side.

Mihăiță Pleșan provided tactical context regarding the opponent. He stated that Getafe plays well on counterattacks but also has weaknesses that can be exploited.

Universitatea Craiova enters the European fixture with momentum from domestic competition. The team defeated Csikszereda 1-0 on Sunday in Miercurea Ciuc.

The victory over Csikszereda marked the fourth consecutive win for Universitatea Craiova in the SuperLiga. Simon Elisor scored the winning goal in that match, which was part of round 11.
