Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced on Monday in parliament that the government will abolish the sports tax allowance (TAO) financing system. The existing mechanism will be replaced by 150 billion HUF in direct budgetary support. Despite this structural change, the government confirmed that total state sports funding will remain at 453 billion HUF.

Magyar explained that the goal of the reform is to prevent oligarchs from making decisions regarding support for clubs and youth development. He stated that the new support system must ensure that the flow of money is traceable. The administration aims to hold recipients accountable for how well the funds serve children's sports and local communities.

The government expressed a desire for more children and adults to engage in physical activity. Magyar emphasized that the development of talent should not be determined by the financial capacity of parents. According to reports, the sports state secretariat is expected to inform sports associations about the post-TAO situation in the coming days.
