Universitatea Craiova is preparing to host Getafe in the first round of the UEFA Conference League group stage. The match will take place at Ion Oblemenco Stadium in Bănie.
Jose Bordalas has been the coach of Getafe since spring 2023. According to Transfermarkt, he has recorded 143 appearances on the bench for the club with an average of 1.29 points per match.
Bordalas stated that the Craiova players are interesting. He added that he is not surprised by their game or their potential ahead of the fixture.
Eugen Neagoe and Sorin Cârțu analyzed the strengths of Getafe ahead of the match. Their comments come as Universitatea Craiova prepares for the European contest.
Sorin Cârțu stated that Getafe finished sixth or seventh in LaLiga. He described the playing style of the Spanish side as uncomfortable and disruptive to opponents.
Eugen Neagoe noted that four of Getafe's five defenders are aged between 34 and 35. He also pointed out that the team's goalkeeper falls within the same age range.
Neagoe claimed that Getafe no longer has the same squad structure as it did in the previous season. He considered Betis, Villarreal, and Rayo to be stronger opponents than Getafe.
Digi24.ro reports that the salary budget for Getafe is approximately 35 million euros. This figure could reach 43.5 million euros if bonuses are included.
Cosmin Contra stated he will support Getafe against Craiova due to his past as a player and coach at the club. He played for Getafe for five years and served as their coach for one year.
Contra described Getafe as an uncomfortable and aggressive LaLiga team that concedes very few goals. He stated that Craiova could cause problems for Getafe if they have a good day.
Other Romanian figures have links to both clubs. Gică Craioveanu played for both Craiova and Getafe. Ciprian Marica helped save Getafe during a difficult year.
