FC Botoșani owner Valeriu Iftime questions Jovan Markovic's role after limited playing time

FC Botoșani owner Valeriu Iftime has voiced his dissatisfaction with the current situation of attacker Jovan Markovic. Iftime stated that the player needs more game time to prove his worth to the club. The owner emphasized that talent alone is not enough without consistent performance on the pitch.

Markovic has struggled to secure a place in the starting lineup during the current campaign. He has not started any matches for FC Botoșani this season. His involvement from the bench has also been limited, as he was an unused substitute in the last two games.

Despite the recent lack of minutes, Markovic has contributed to the team's results. He scored one goal for FC Botoșani in a 5-0 victory against Sepsi. This remains his only goal for the club so far this season.

Iftime acknowledged the physical improvements made by the attacker. He noted Markovic's talent and recent weight loss. However, the owner stressed that performance in training is crucial for selection. He indicated that showing quality in practice is necessary to earn a spot in the matchday squad.

The competition for places in the attack is stiff. Iftime stated it is difficult for Markovic to displace Dumiter from the starting eleven. The owner questioned if the attacker will be useful to the club in the long term given the current hierarchy and performance levels.

Markovic joined FC Botoșani as a free agent. He arrived at the club after leaving Farul at the end of the previous season. His move was intended to provide depth and quality to the Botoșani attack.

The current situation contrasts with the views of the former coaching staff. Former coach Marius Croitoru highly appreciated Markovic during his tenure. Croitoru believed the attacker fit his offensive style and valued his contributions to the team's play.
