FC Famalicão announced on its official website that it has mutually terminated the contract of head coach Carlos Carvalhal. The club confirmed the decision through its digital channels, bringing an end to his time in charge of the Portuguese side.

The departure comes after a short stint that lasted for only nine competitive matches. During this period, the team struggled to find consistency in the Portuguese top division, securing just one victory under his leadership.

Recent results contributed to the decision, as the team suffered a heavy defeat in the league. The club also exited the Portuguese Cup after losing to Paredes, a team from the third division.

Carvalhal was appointed as manager in the summer of 2026. The 60-year-old Portuguese expert took over the squad with the aim of improving their standing in the domestic competition.

Hungarian international Tamás Szűcs was part of the squad during this tenure. He played six times under Carvalhal, starting in four of those matches. The two worked together for the duration of the nine-game spell.

Carvalhal brings experience from several major clubs across Europe. His previous managerial roles include spells at Besiktas, Sporting, and Celta Vigo. He also managed Swansea in the English top flight.
