Pavel Nedved has indicated that the Czech Republic national team is actively exploring options to strengthen its squad by targeting players with Czech ancestry abroad. The general manager of the Czech national teams discussed two specific candidates in a recent podcast, highlighting the complexities and opportunities involved in recruiting dual-national talents.
A primary focus is Goren, a young player currently associated with Barcelona. Nedved confirmed that the Czech football association has been in contact with the player several times, with head coach Santi Deni leading much of the communication. Goren has already represented Israel at the under-21 level but has not yet made an appearance for the senior national team, leaving his international future open.
The recruitment effort faces competition from Israel, as Goren’s father is Israeli, giving him the option to represent that nation. Nedved acknowledged that this familial connection makes the situation more complicated but stated that the Czech team has presented an offer that he believes is of interest to both the player and his family. The management believes Goren is already capable of contributing to the senior Czech squad.
Nedved praised Goren’s technical abilities, comparing his playing style to Barcelona star Pedri. He described the young midfielder as technically mature and well-suited to the Barcelona school of play, predicting that he will soon become a regular starter for his club. This assessment aligns with Goren’s inclusion in lists of top global talents.
Beyond Barcelona, the Czech scouting network is also looking toward South America. Allan Wlk, a 23-year-old Paraguayan player, has emerged as another potential target due to his Czech great-grandfather. However, his case involves additional legal hurdles regarding eligibility that require further examination by experts.
While Nedved has not spoken directly with Wlk, he has established contact with the player’s manager to explore the possibility. The general manager confirmed that discussions are ongoing, though the legal feasibility of Wlk representing the Czech Republic remains to be fully determined.
