Panathinaikos midfielder Azzedine Ounahi has been ruled out for a significant period after suffering a severe injury during the club's match against Asteras Tripolis. The Moroccan international sustained the damage in the first quarter of the game, with medical staff confirming a severe strain in his right hamstring following an MRI scan.

Club officials estimate that Ounahi will be unavailable for a minimum of two months. His return is currently projected for January 2027, although this timeline remains dependent on the progress of his rehabilitation process. This latest setback represents the second most serious injury of his professional career.

Historical data indicates that Ounahi's longest previous absence occurred during the 2022-23 season while he was playing for Marseille. During that period, he was sidelined for 82 days due to a broken toe. More recently, while at Girona last season, he missed a total of 15 matches due to various injury issues.

Since joining Panathinaikos, Ounahi had largely avoided major physical setbacks. In the 2024-25 season, he missed only four games due to minor back and adductor complaints, with no serious injuries recorded during that campaign prior to this recent hamstring strain.
