UEFA has imposed a disciplinary sanction on ŠK Slovan Bratislava, fining the club 40,000 euros and ordering a complete ban on ticket sales to its fans for the next away match in a UEFA club competition. The governing body cited crowd disturbances and the throwing of objects as the reasons for the penalty. This sanction means supporters will be unable to attend the upcoming Champions League fixture against LASK Linz, which is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3.
The club’s management stated it would not accept the verdict without a fight. In a statement released on social media, ŠK Slovan Bratislava announced it is taking all available legal steps to appeal the decision and seek a modification of the punishment. The club also committed to immediately informing fans who had already purchased tickets for the trip to Linz about any further developments or impacts resulting from the ruling.
The strict measures stem from events during the previous week’s match in Rome, where ŠK Slovan Bratislava suffered a 0-4 defeat. Incidents at the Stadio Olimpico escalated after halftime, when a group of radical supporters attempted to break through barriers to reach fans of the home team, AS Roma. According to reports from Italian newspapers La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera, the clashes and thrown objects resulted in an injury to one police officer involved in the intervention.
